Our new Educational Support Program provides a full-time core class with adjusted learning programs, a dedicated teacher and teacher’s aide, where students are actively included in the College community. This program allows the College to cater for a wider range of student needs and provides a pathway through high school for students from St Peter’s Heart and other similar schools.

The ESP class supports students with a diagnosed mild to moderate Autism and/or an Intellectual Disability. For enrolment, families must provide documented evidence (within the past 2 years) from a qualified medical professional. Applications for students with a combination of Level 2 and Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder may be considered at the College’s discretion.

The ESP follows the standard school start time of 8.25 am and concludes at 2.30 pm. This earlier finish allows parents to collect their child before the busy afternoon pickup period.
The ESP class is part of the College and is located near a leafy, tree-lined area that provides a calm and peaceful environment. This quiet space supports students who need time to recharge during breaks, while those who are more social can join the shared playground and connect with peers across the College.
We currently have one class with a teacher and a teacher assistant. All students have an Individual Plan (IP) developed in consultation with parents/carers. The IPs outline adjustments and strategies that will assist in supporting students’ communication, learning, participation and safety, personal care and/or health care, movement, and other areas of their schooling and development. Students are taught using the NSW Outcomes or Life Skills curriculum.
All students are valued members of the wider school community and participate in Chapel, assemblies, whole-school sporting events such as the athletics carnival and weekly sport, as well as excursions. At break times, students are supported to make choices that suit their needs whether that’s spending time with peers in the playground or enjoying a quieter space. With thoughtful planning, students may also join mainstream classes where appropriate. Integration is encouraged and supported on an individual basis, ensuring it is meaningful, appropriate and beneficial for each student.
Frankie is a beloved therapy dog who visits the Junior School a couple of times each week. Once a week, Frankie will pop into our class greeting students and sharing plenty of cuddles. These visits are always a highlight and bring joy and comfort to everyone.
Each class can accommodate approximately 7-10 students with a teacher and teacher assistant. The class size is dependent on a number of factors and is at the discretion of the principal.
Yes, speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, and other similar services can take place onsite with professional providers. We partner with therapists in a team-based approach to support each student’s individual needs, while also equipping teachers and teacher assistants with practical strategies to use in the classroom. This collaborative model ensures we are all working together to help every student thrive.
